Profile Name: Ronia Erling Age: 20 Species: ¾ human, ¼ elf Sex: Female Appearance: Thick auburn hair cut short and ragged, large green eyes, petite, shapely figure with lean muscle tone on arms and legs, heart shaped face and longer than normal ears. youvebeenterrorized.deviantart.com/art/Ronia-380983060 Abilities: Her elven heritage gave her the gifts of stamina and agility, as well as wisdom. Her work in the flour mill has built up muscle and strength Personality: Musical (she whistles while she works). Loves the water. Friendly. Selfless. Thinks too much about everything. Worries. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The faint breeze caused the thin shafts of grain to sway to and fro like the waves of the ocean, but it did nothing to relieve the heat inside the top floor of the dusty windmill where Ronia was steadily throwing grain into the shaft and releasing it to the grinding rocks below. She was the only one of the uppermost floor today, due to the heat most of the other workers opted to be on lower floors. Not that the job required more than one person; throw grain in, pull lever. It was tedious work that tired her mind more than anything else in the world, but luckily she only had a few more bundles to go before her work was over. She looked longingly out the small picture window as she piled more grain into the shaft. A small pond surrounded by adventurers fishing for their meals lay right in her line of sight. How she longed to be out in the open air and by the vast waters like them. Her father worked at the ports helping ships load and unload cargo. Every day he would come home telling stories about the things he loaded and the people he had met at the docks. She could tell he longed to be out on the water with them, but he never left, always returning home to his wife and child. Ronia dumped the last of the grain into the chute, pulled the lever and quickly began climbing down the ladder. On each floor she motioned to the men supervising that she had dumped the last load and continued down until she reached the bottom floor. She collected her day’s pay without so much as a whisper and quickly left the premises. She placed the 5 bronze coins in her hip sack and began walking down the main road away from the mill and towards the pond with the adventurers. Now they were sitting around a fire, one over the fire with his catch and the rest laughing and talking. Ronia did not stop to listen, as that would only cause her great pain. She continued walking towards straight towards her parent’s village.

Name: Alysia Age: Unknown Species: Fairy Sex: Female Appearance: Slender build, long pink hair which she usually braids, ties back into a ponytail and inserts a flower on the side, Sparkly pink wings, (which she can turn invisible at will), pink and burgundy striped leggings, pink mini boots, long pink sleeveless wrap shirt, and a woven belt made of twigs. pixgirl359.deviantart.com/art/pink-pixie-full-312097416Abilities: Alysia is able to manipulate nature. She has healing powers and can mend just about any organic matter. She can fly, and she has the ability see auras and she can communicate with any animal and creature no matter what their form of communication is. Personality: Friendly, Perky, always looking for excitement and adventure. Loves to pull pranks, flirty, sometimes shy when she first meets people, Likes to daydream and gaze at the stars at night. Loves to paint, read, make jewelry out of flowers, twigs, and any other natural matter she can find, and fly as fast as she can over fields of flowers and through forests. End of Profile. Alysia sat in the field of yellow and orange daffodils. She sighed contently as she plucked a couple of flowers and delicately began to weave them into a crown. This crown was to be an offering to her mother, who had died years ago. With her mother gone, Alysia had no one left to turn to. Once a year on the anniversary of the tragic event, Alysia would weave a crown of daffodils – her mother’s favorite – and place it on the tomb that lay under the large oak tree in the nearby graveyard. Alysia had started going the year after her mother’s death. Everything about it gave her the creeps – from the trolls lurking by the creeks edge, to the wind whistling through the trees, to the very thought that she was walking over dead beings; beings that were not able to be saved in time. Alysia was interrupted from her thoughts by a quiet, squeaky voice coming from behind her. “Alysia?” Alysia turned and saw her old friend, Rita the Rabbit, sitting amidst the colors of the flower field. Rita was covered in scratches, bruises and dried blood. Alysia’s heart swelled with concern at the rabbit’s condition. “What happened to you, Rita? ?” Alysia looked anxiously at her furry friend, “is everything okay?” Rita scrunched up her little nose and twitched it vigorously. Alysia knew that was a sign of desperation for her little rabbit friend. She dropped her flower wreath and picked up the creature, coddling it soothingly. “Whatever is wrong, Rita, you can tell me. You know I will do everything in my power to help you.” Rita emitted a small sigh, “Alysia, I heard you Nature Fairies have healing powers,” she began. Alysia opened her mouth to protest, for she didn’t want to disappoint Rita, but the rabbit had the right to know the truth. Rita rambled on, letting the rest of her story out in one breath. “I’ve been feeling really down, lately, and I just feel like I need to go. I mean, I can’t continue living this life any longer. I don’t feel like it’s worth it anymore. I’ve lost all hope to live, Alysia, and I need your healing powers to bring my life back. Can you help me?” Alysia hesitated. Rita needed to know everything, but Alysia didn’t know how to break the news to her. “Rita,” she started cautiously, “I don’t have any healing powers. Not yet, anyway. I’m truly sorry. I don’t get them till my birthday next week. I’m so very sorry. I wish I could help you more.” Alysia watched the depressed look on the rabbit’s face form. It broke her heart to see one of her friends so upset. She decided then that she had to help Rita, no matter what.

Ronia slowed down from her quick pace to observe the forest. The sun had begun to set and had turned the world a soft orange, including the blue birds tweeting softly in their nests. She whistled back at them in perfect harmony while smiling. If she could she would spend all her time outdoors, but she promised her parents that she would not walk through the forest at night, so she went to the small town that lay conveniently between her workplace and her parent’s home. She walked into the local inn with the intention of getting a room. It was instantly broken when she witnessed a wooden bar stool fly across the room and landing on what seemed to be a very drunk adventurer on the other side. He screamed in anger and began racing for the bar at full force. “What barbarians! They should keep their fighting out of the bars!” she thought to herself as she hastily exited the inn. She stood in the middle of the street; daylight running out quickly. She could try asking a villager for a bed but decided against it; she hated being a burden on others. This only left one option; sleeping in the forest. She knew it would be against her parents’ advice but she doubted her parents would want her sleeping in a bar where rowdy, drunk adventurers were either. She walked out into the forest, close enough to be able to see the street lamps but far enough away that townspeople could not see her. She picked an old willow tree with plenty of drooping branches to hide her and set up a makeshift bed out of leaves. As soon as she finished she laid down the sounds of nature lulled her to sleep. She felt right at home outdoors.

Profile: Name: Distance Age: Was a mortal for 17 years. Was a vampire for 4. Sex: Female Appearance: Long fair hair, pale skin, large mahogany eyes, slim body, kissable lips, very pretty. Enjoys wearing vibrantly coloured peasant dresses with hand-stiched embroidery, matched with odd-coloured ribbons around the waist or hips. Wears brown leather hunting boots that fit like gloves on her small feet but enjoys going barefoot when outside of society's watchful eye. Has markings across her feet, back, forearms, and collarbone. xxlythexx.deviantart.com/art/Distance-312353282 Abilities: Very fast. Very agile. Very strong. Her sense of sight, hearing, and sense of smell are more acute than that of the average human's. Heals incredibly fast. Has sharp fangs that come out when she's worried, fighting, hunting, eating, or hungry. Can walk in daylight. Personality: Very Joyful. Outgoing, bubbly. Helpful, encouraging. Open-minded, understanding. Literally bounces with joy. End of Profile. “La la la la la” Distance was a bad singer but she just loved the forest. It was so beautiful, and green, and alive. In the heart of the forest she was surrounded by it. It reminded her of old times. Ah, before she was a vampire. Before she had to rely on blood for sustenance. Blood's a tricky thing to get a hold of, as every vampire knows. It wasn't easy to have a positive attitude when you were turned into a blood-thirsty killer against your will but Distance knew that if you couldn't be happy, there wasn't really anything to live for. Well, exist for. She wasn't exactly living. She laughed at that. Suddenly something in the distance caught her eye. Normally she would have laughed at the pun, but she was completely entranced at the sight before her. On the other side of the forest, there was a fairy. A fairy! Distance had to physically restrain herself from jumping up and down. It was a rare sight, and an honour. Vampires and fairies were related- vampires being a sort of “dark fairy”. But it was incredibly rare for them to actually meet one another. The fairy walked off and Distance's gaze turned to a small grey bunny who oddly smelled of death even though Distance could hear her little heart beat. Distance's eyes widened as she noted small scars running along the rabbit's forearms. The blood in her fur was clearly her own. My gosh, thought Distance, what is wrong with that poor creature that it is suffering so?
An inner desire for well-being forced Distance to watch over the rabbit. She stayed close enough to see, but far enough so as not to be noticed. She was slightly intrigued by this bunny. How could something so innocent be so lost and hurting, in such beautiful surroundings? Something just wasn't right.

Ronia could feel herself rising from deep slumber and into semi- consciousness. It was not uncommon for her to wake up in the middle of the night for no reason at all. Normally she would get up and walk around to tire herself out again, but she opted to stay under her tree, eyes closed, and waited for sleep to come again. In this state she could hear the sounds of night time clear as a bell; crickets chirping, leaves rustling and the nocturnal animals doing their work. She could also hear something not so normal; someone breathing only paces from where she lay. It was very quiet but distinct all the same. Her mind raced “Oh no, what could that be! Is it a brigand? I better just lie here and let him rob me then! But what if it’s one of those drunken loons from the bar? Maybe I should get up and shoo him off! No but then if it’s a robber he might just kill me! Let’s see if he leaves.” She waited a few moments. The breathing remained calm and steady. “Okay...he’s still here. That’s it, I better move. But don’t be rude Ronia; even if it is the chair chucker you’ve got to mind your manners!” She turned sat upright against the tree, and without looking she asked “Who’s there?”

Alysia sat at a wooden desk in her village’s musty old library, surrounded by books. She felt terrible. She wished from the bottom of her tiny fairy heart she could help Rita. She had sense the rabbit’s aura. It was a horrible shade of grey. The thought of it made Alysia shiver. She felt ashamed, though she knew deep down it wasn’t her fault she didn’t have her healing powers yet. If only she had been born sooner, she could have been able to help Rita. Alysia sighed. She reluctantly picked up a book and half heartedly sifted through it. Usually being among books helped calm the desperate Nature Fairy. But today, Alysia was too distraught. It wasn’t like these books could help her heal Rita. That’s when it hit her. Alysia could not believe she had been so blind. She slammed the book shut and flew up to the top shelves, where the nature fairy section lay. Her bright pink wings casted a magical glow on the spines of the books. She frantically scanned the rows for the book she needed. Her tiny fingers grabbed hold of a brown leather cover. It felt smooth and worn under her gentle touch. She read the title. The Nature Fairy’s Guide To Organic Herbs and Healing Plants. Alysia smiled. All she had to do was search this book. Hopefully, an anti-depressant or wound-healing herb of some sort would be revealed inside. She excitedly returned to her seat and wasted not a moment in uncovering the secrets of the plant world. After an hour of flipping through the delicate pages of the old herb bible, she came across exactly what she was looking for. Alysia eagerly left the library and flew as fast as she could towards the forest. Once deep inside, she came across the plant she was looking for. She delicately pinched a petal off the blue healing flower and caressed it lovingly between her little fingers. “There may be a chance after all, Rita,” Alysia whispered under her breath. All she had to do was fly home and brew this petal into a tea, let Rita take a sip, and hope that the best will come of it.

Distance watched the rabbit as it stayed behind an oak tree, out of sight of the other bunnies. It didn’t even go into its burrow when all the other rabbits had. In fact, when she was all alone, the bunny began to fidget, as if it were struggling with something. It got to a point where it was practically convulsing and Distance was afraid it had become possessed by a dark spirit when suddenly the shaking stopped. Distance stood paralyzed in horror, as she watched the rabbit make a stroking gesture across her forearms that left small deep gashes. The rabbit seemed relaxed by this, but with each stroke Distance became more terrified by what she was watching and sick as an urge to drink came over her. She tried to force away the thirst but her fangs slipped out of their sheaths, ending in two sharp ivory points outside of her mouth. If she had a heartbeat, it would have raced.
Just then, the rabbit looked towards Distance, suddenly noticing her presence. But rather than running like any smart animal would, it made its way towards the vampire, blood soaking its arms as it limped. Distance hadn’t realized how deep the wounds were. By the time it got to Distance, most of bunny’s blood had spilled onto the grass covered earth, and it was barely conscious. Distance snapped out of her reverie and ran towards the rabbit, now lying on the ground a mere 4 feet away. She ripped off her purple ribbon from around her waist and quickly tied it around the bunny’s wrists but it was too late. The rabbit had lost too much blood and soon it would die. Tears welled in Distance’s eyes. “I’m so sorry. I want to help you but it’s too late.” The bunny’s eyes opened, piercing straight into the vampires, slowly shaking its head. It’s gaze left Distance’s eyes and went down to where her fangs jutted out of her mouth. The Vampire paled as it realized what the rabbit was asking.

Taraxavl breath in through wide nostrils. Human smell like honey form stingy things, but also like plants and salty water. Also like Earth. Very strange. Taraxavl lost in memories. Suddenly human move! Human awake! Taraxavl too lost in thought! Taraxavl make steps back, but making too much noise! Hear rustling leaves and bushes. Suddenly human says "Who there?" Taraxavl freeze. Distance took this opportunity to step in. She had been watching the troll and human for some time. Stumbling upon them while she was fleeing the forest. She was worried, for both of them, seeing as trolls had a bad reputation for being clumsy and well, not smart. Not to mention it would keep her mind off of recent events. So when the troll froze, she took this an opportunity to introduce herself.
"Hi, my name is Distance! Why are you sleeping in the forest when the town is just over there? Surely they have an inn with a comfortable bed for you. It would be a lot safer. Do you not have any money?"

“What the...where the?” Ronia said in confusion. The girl had confused her; could this be the person who was watching her as she slept? She stayed silent for one moment as she looked her over as best she could in the moonlight. She wore a peasant gown, which seemed more impressive than her old dress. Both her hair and complexion were very pale, almost milk white. She thought to herself “The only people who could even attain that shade of white could only be vampires! No, you’re being dumb, you’d be eaten by now. Daughter of a lord- I mean they rarely get sun as they don’t work. But then why would she be out at night? Oh who knows, makes more sense than a vampire.” She snapped out of her deep thought when she realized Distance was still staring at her intently. She answered her questions “Hello uhh...Distance? There is an inn but when I got there it was full of drunkards tossing around furniture so I decided not to stay, too loud for my liking. I thought it might be quieter out here, but I think one of them had come out here and was watching me, did you see any big, drunk men come out here by any chance?”

Distance wasn't sure how to respond. She had gotten this girl's attention, but now what?
"Uh, I wouldn't call him a man, and he definitely wasn't drunk but... Don't freak out okay? He didn't mean any harm, honest. He was just curious-" She began to fumble with words, nervously covering her mouth as her fangs came out of their sheaths. She stepped aside, motioning to the poor frightened troll she was trying to protect. If it didn't scare the human girl, her fangs might. She concentrated on putting her fangs back into their sheaths while the girl's attention was averted.

“There, that should do it!” Alysia poured the tea into a small bowl and placed a large leaf on top. She hoped that this would help her good friend Rita the Rabbit. Alysia was excited to show Rita the cure she had concocted, although the fairy still wondered what was bothering the rabbit so much. Alysia opened the wooden door and flew hurriedly out of her small, acorn shaped home. She was careful in holding the tea and balancing it, hoping it would not tip. She could not afford to spill the medicine and have to start all over. She felt she was running out of time. Once Alysia had reached the edge of her village she surveyed the site in front of her. It was already dark out, maybe even the middle of the night. Luckily for her, there was a beautiful full moon out in the sky that casted a glow almost as bright as day, illuminating the field and the tips of the forest trees. Her wings gave off a faint pinkish glow as well. The light comforted Alysia, telling her everything was going to be alright. The only thing in her way of saving her friend was the flower field she so dearly loved. Flying quickly over that field led her to the edge of the forest, where Rita usually could be found this time of night nibbling on leaves and small insects. “Rita,” Alysia called out. She waited a moment, but the rabbit was nowhere to be seen. That’s odd, Alysia thought to herself, Rita usually comes hopping eagerly when I call her. Maybe she is too upset and is hiding somewhere. This seemed logical to Alysia. She called out to her friend again, “Rita, where are you? I have something to show you.” Still no answer. Alysia tried one last time. She placed the tea on an old tree stump and began her search, using her nature powers to move away any branches, twigs or plants in her line of view. She needed to find Rita. Desperation was beginning to take over. Alysia realized she was getting close to Rita’s burrow. Feeling stupid, as she probably should have check there first, Alysia flew back and scooped up the bowl of tea. It was cold now, and she hoped it still held its potency. Racing back to Rita’s burrow near a large oak tree, hoping to find her furry friend and give her the home-made medicine she worked so hard on. “Riiitttaaaa,” she drew out the call, wishing the rabbit would come already. Alysia was growing weary. She sighed and placed herself next to Rita’s home in the ground. She masked her wings and set the bowl on the forest floor next to her. “Rita, I know you’re upset, but please listen. I have a gift for you! I may not have my healing powers quite yet, but you know I would do anything in my power to help you.” The forest remained quiet, save for the occasional chirping of a cricket. Alysia took a deep breath. This was harder then she had thought it would be. If only she could make herself smaller then she already was, she could go inside Rita’s home and talk to her there. “Rita, please. Come out? Here, I made you some tea. It’s medicine from a blue flower I found. I searched the library by Fairy Creek for a book on healing plants. I found exactly what you need. Rita, please come out and take a sip! I’m so worried about you.” Alysia stood up and began to pace. Any moment now, Rita will show her tiny head and she can help her. She can fix her friend. She can make it all better. Alysia felt something like a fire build inside her. She didn’t know what that feeling was exactly. She remembered one time, when her mother was still alive, one of the pixie boys, Allon, pulled on her hair in Magiks class. When she got up later to go answer a question on the board, Allon had tripped her. She had fallen flat on her face in front of the entire room. At this point, Alysia was feeling the fire in her heart for the first time. She stood up, her face red as a poppy flower, and slapped Allon right across the cheeks. Alysia got sent to the Head of Ministry’s office and got a good scolding. Tears rolled down the small fairy’s cheeks. When she got home later that day, and told her mother of the mean pixie boy and the feeling she experienced in her heart, her mother had described that feeling as anger. That was the first time Alysia felt anger or hatred towards someone or something. The second time was when her mother died. Right now, Alysia tried to control her feelings. She didn’t want to get angry at a friend. She closed her eyes and took deep breaths, counting to ten slowly. When she was done, she opened her eyes and began walking around the burrow. Something caught her attention out of the corner of her eye. It was a purple flash, coming from behind the large oak tree. Alysia had never seen anyone in these woods before, besides her animal friends. She cautiously approached the floating purple thing. It wafted lightly in the faint breeze and glowed in under the soft moon light. It was long and it led out of her sight, behind the tree. Alysia had to be brave, for she didn’t know what lay behind the massive oak. She had taught herself to never think of the bad things that could happen, and to focus only on the good. But what she saw made her worst nightmares come to life. Behind the oak tree was Rita. The poor rabbit was bloodied almost beyond recognition, and tied in a purple ribbon. Alysia screeched, and quickly cover her mouth. She squeezed her eyes tight, and prayed that this was a dream. That could not be Rita. Though her Nature Fairy senses determined it was the sad rabbit under the bloody mess, she tried to deny it. Tears began trickling down her face. They became cold as they soaked her fingers and ran down her arms. She sobbed and fell to the ground. Daring to take another look, Alysia peeked through her hands and glanced hesitantly at the body. That was indeed Rita. Through her burden tears, Alysia gently untied the purple ribbon from her friends’ body. She went back to the bowl of tea, poured it out onto the tree stump, and used the bowl to dig a hole in the ground. She then placed the tiny rabbit’s body inside the hole. She hunched on the ground, over the small grave and cried. Her tears dropped onto the creature, making the bits of blood that were still fresh run into the dirt. She said a silent prayer, telling Rita to be strong in her new world. She told Rita that even though she had tried to mend her, she was sorry she was too late. Alysia said a few more words to the rabbit before vowing to avenge her deceased friend. Covering up the body with dirt, Alysia picked a yellow dandelion and placed it lovingly atop the grave. Standing up, Alysia clutched the bloodied ribbon between her fingers. This was now the third time she was feeling immense anger. She felt she should be ashamed she was feeling such things, for all anger brought was hatred and loathing, and those were two things fairies did not stand for. But her morals could wait. She was going to find this killer and make it wish it never had been born.

Ronia watched as Distance moved away and moved her hand, as though signalling. There was obviously something out in the woods she didn’t want Ronia to see. This time the thoughts flowed from her head into the outside world as she ranted “What exactly are you trying to pull Distance? Is your macho older brother going to swoop in and start stealing my stuff while I’m talking to you? Well he’s going to have a heck of a time because all I have is on me, and you’ll have to get through me to get any of it!” Although all her instincts told her to run she stood her ground. She wasn’t going to let these creeps get away without a fight.

Distance sighed. She had gotten control over her fangs and pulled her hand away from her mouth. "First of all, I don't have any brothers, so no worries!" She attempted to smile but it didn't quite meet her eyes. "I just-well I noticed a troll was watching you sleep and you know how humans are with their pitchforks and troll hunts- so when you woke up I was afraid- I was afraid you would- please don't hurt him."
She looked nervously to the right of her, where the troll stood.
