Hailey rattled off the different devices, working and not working, in the room they were in. She explained why she'd chosen this location for set up and why certain objects had to be given extra protection. She turned to see if Ms. Greer was listening and saw her hand was reaching towards her hair.
Hailey cocked a brow. "What... are you doing?" Just then she noticed the door hadn't been closed behind them and there was something in the distance. She quickly took out her night-vision goggles. "Hey, there's a boy out there! Maybe he wants some dinner too. Wait here. Don't touch anything."
She quickly ran out towards the stranger about to fill his canteen. "Hey! We got fresh water over here! It's been purified. We're about to have dinner! Come on!" She shouted.

Chimere froze in her place and watched Hailey run towards the supposed person in the distance. She was impulsive like herself, but much too friendly and loud for it her liking. She looked at her arms; once more they had moved up without her consent. She looked up and sighed. They needed to be tuned up once again. That required half a day of work in order to do it just right. She looked around the strange little homestead full of devices, some on some off. To kill time she decided to take out her blueprints part list to see if she needed to restock. If she did she would do the thing that took the most effort for her to do; ask Hailey if she had any she could give her.

"Ah, w-who goes there!" Stormy stands up quickly, awkwardly rifling around in his pockets, and pulling out his set of butterfly knives, one in each hand, flipping them open. He wanted the stranger to know he had them, he knew how unwise it was to pick up strangers, and he was not prepared to take any risks.

Hailey noticed the butterfly knives and smiled. Smart kid.
"You clearly know how to defend yourself so what's to worry about? Come on, there's plenty to go around!" She shouted at the boy. His face was dirty with hair pointing in all directions, making him look like some sort of rabid animal. He was skinny too and could really use some food. They all could.
Hailey's stomach grumbled.
Okay, if this kid didn't get over here in the next 5 minutes, she was going to start eating without him. She liked company every once in a while, but one thing Hailey never liked, was waiting.

Stormy sighed, slowely dropping his arms and approached the girl. The first thing he notticed about her was her dark redhair. He didn't particularly enjoy strangers, but he knew he was in no position to play powerful. "S-sorry about that..." He chuckled nervously "But, it's always better to play safe." His tone changed to cold as stone, as his eyes examined the girl carefully, trying to get a reaction.

Hailey noticed the change in the boy's tone. Her stare pierced his. After a few moments she asked, this time less friendly, "Are you coming?" She stepped back, holding the door holding the door open so that the boy could come inside. "We have fresh clean water. Trust me, you don't want to drink that stuff." She pointed to his dirty canteen. "If the parasites don't kill you, the pollution will. Not to mention they've got tracers in em. The machines will find out where you are, stalk you till you meet the herd then wipe you out. Have you drank any yet?" She looked around anxiously to see if anyone had followed him. "Come on." She beckoned him in.

"We?" He asked, being sure he only saw one girl, "No, I haven't drank any." He said, taking off his canteen and dumping it into a little puddle that was by his feet. "And, well, thank-you" He said following the red head inside. "You're kinder than most people out here." He looked around for the other person, and once inside saw the girl. "Nice place you got here." He complimented, lookign around.

"Trust me, this is nothing." Hailey said motioning to the piles of force-field protected devices lining the delapidating rust-coloured warehouse walls. She smirked as she looked the boy up and down, laying her hands on her hips. "The reason no one's nice to you is because you don't have anything to offer. But you have something I want. Information. You tell me your story, I offer you food. No story, no food." She held her hand out. "We got a deal?"

Stormy looked at the girls extended hand, sighed, and rolled his eyes. "Fine." He said, grabbing the girls hand. "What do you want to know? Exactly?"

Hailey’s voice approached the cabin once more. Chimere quickly returned the gloves to her arms and blueprints to her bag. She turned slowly to see she was accompanied by another young soul- the person she had seen in the distance. She wondered how she was able to run into two children in one day and hadn’t seen an adult in weeks. She looked over to study the other person; a young boy, no older than 16 she figured if not younger. His green eyes stood out like emeralds in the sand. They reminded her of the eyes of someone she once knew. She turned away once more and tried to focus on the kids’ conversation. Miss Loud Mouth offered the boy a story in exchange for food (though she saw no food in the house-except for the squirrel in her bag). Of course the young thing accepted; charity like that is hard to resist in these times especially if you’re young. Chimere kept her back to the kids. She wondered if Hailey had any Iridium or Hydrogen Peroxide hanging around the old shack.

"Dinner first. I'll ask my questions later. Hey Greer, I'll share my food if you share yours." She said not facing the wierd old woman, but crouching to open a hidden storage unit. She pulled out dried meal packets. "These taste awful on their own, but with a bit of meat, it's not so bad." She muttered as she put her hand to an invisible wall surrounding a leaning tower of appliances, then furtively typing in the access code as a keyboard appeared in mid-air, "And this," She rummaged through the items until she found the one she was looking for, "is the stove."
She held it up proudly. It was the EHS 5000- the newest stove to come out before the war started. With only two burners, it was thin, lightweight, and easy to carry with you. Her brother had been given it as a thank-you gift by one of his patients. In fact he had based the design for Base 1's Kitchen on the mechanisms inside the EHS 5000.
Hailey took out a pot and put it on the stove, turning the dial to 212 degrees Fahrenheit. She took some water from an odd looking contraption on the wall and poured it in, along with the meal packet's contents. She then placed a frying pan on the second burner, turning the dial to 350 degrees fahrenheit. She backed away from the stove and turned towards the gray lady, opening her palm in expectation. "Pass the squirrel." She said, fingers pulled inward in a "come here" motion.

Chimere glared at Hailey’s open palm. Her offerings were meager at best, but then again produced food was hard to come by and quite honestly, the taste of gamey meat was getting old fast. She reached over to her bag and yanked it out of her bag. Before handing it over she looked the girl in the eye “I expect to be addressed as Ms. Greer, Hailey, as that is how I introduced myself. While the society that created them is gone, I’d like basic manners to live on at least in my presence. At that she dropped the squirrel into her open palm and returned to her seat. Chimere figured that the best way to teach was by example. She looked at the green-eyed boy and gave a soft, closed mouth smile as she asked “What is your name, young man? I do not believe I have heard it.”
